Texans Week 3 Summary

May flowers and all… : (

Another week, another rain out… these are the tumultuous days of early spring. The coming week promises to be relatively clear if not exactly warm. We move forward!

Varsity and JV Texans

Limited action for both squads this week as the weather continued to be problematic. However, the boys played a combined scrimmage with Thrall High School on Tuesday with some good baseball happening. Unfortunately, a planned Varsity game with Veritas was cancelled on Friday. This coming week, JV has a planned double header with Salado on Tuesday followed by a game with Granger High School JV on Saturday. Varsity has a home game against CTCS on Friday night… a good way to start the weekend. As always, plan to check the Texans Varsity calendar and the Texans JV calendar for updates and locations. Homeschool World Series

We are now hitting deadlines on a weekly basis as we prepare for the late April trip to Florida for the Homeschool World Series! The trip coordinator sent an email out to the families this past Sunday so make sure you are keeping up to speed on what needs to be turned in and when. Don’t forget about the upcoming fundraiser at Burger University on Wednesday, February 26 this week from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Local High School Season

Saw lots of social media posts from friends about the local Public High School scrimmages starting this past weekend. Won’t be long and we’ll see how the local teams do in the state.

NCAA Div 1

The NCAA Div 1 season has kicked off and games are happening. Here’s the link to the ESPN scoreboard as well as articles from the SEC and Big XII. In the SEC, Florida, Tennessee and Georgia have gotten off to great starts, only losing 1 game between them (Georgia). The Big XII meanwhile, has both Texas and Oklahoma jumping out to excellent starts. The action is just heating up!

Major League Baseball

Spring training is now going full tilt for Major League Baseball. Standings don’t matter this time of year, but the stories are interesting as every team still has eyes on the post season, seven months away. This week, the MLB seems set on proving that the NFL does not have the market cornered on being the No Fun League… yes, they took away this guy’s sign on spring training opening day.
